Frequently asked questions
- What can I make here?
- Five layouts inspired by famous demos: patches that look like different shades but aren’t, “secret” gradient lettering, still rings that some people feel are spinning, a striped bar that splits into two apparent grays, and a bold stare-then-blink poster for afterimages. Great for social posts, party tricks, or science class.
- Do I need to upload a photo?
- No. You don’t send any image to ROCKIMG for this tool. It draws everything directly in your browser on your device.
- The two squares look different—are they really the same color?
- For the same-color illusion, yes: both squares use the same fill. Your eyes judge brightness compared to what’s around each patch, so one square reads darker and the other lighter.
- I can barely read the hidden words. Is something wrong?
- That’s normal up close. Step back, shrink the picture on your screen, or squint—the letters usually pop out once the fine edges blur together.
- The rings aren’t a video—why do they feel like they move?
- The file never animates. Some patterns fatigue your vision and cause shimmering or drifting sensations (often stronger out of the corner of your eye). People react differently, and that’s OK.
- What am I supposed to notice with the black-and-white stripes?
- The horizontal bar is one connected shade across the stripes, yet the chunk sitting on black usually looks unlike the chunk on white—a textbook brightness illusion.
- How do I try the afterimage trick?
- Relax your gaze on the middle for about ten seconds without letting your eyes wander, then look at a plain white wall or sheet of paper. Many people see a faint ghost in complementary colors. Pause if your eyes feel tired.
- What happens when I click Download?
- You save a PNG snapshot of the preview—about the size of a widescreen slide—ready for chats, presentations, or printing.
